Shirley Wilson Logan is an asociate professor of English at the University of Maryland, where she teaches courses in composition theory, the history of rhetoric, and nineteenth-century African-American discourse.  Her publications include journal articles, essays in collections, an anthology, With Pen and Voice, and a book, We Are Coming:  The Persuasive Discourse of Nineteenth-Century Black Women.  She is currently working on a rhetorical biography of Frances E.W. Harper.

Dr. Clifford L. Muse, Jr., University Archivist at Howard University, is a specialist in the development and history of the University. He is co-author, with Thomas C. Battle, of Howard In Retrospect: Images of the Capstone. Dr. Muse is a member of several archival organizations.
