Pittsburgh Courier
 Washington Bureau Collection
The photograph morgue of the Washington
Bureau of the Pittsburgh Courier newspaper
consists of more than 3,500 images from the
1940s through the 1960s.  Among the images
of entertainers are photographs of musical
groups.  Doo-wop groups, specializing in using
wordless chords, were popular during the
same years and set the pattern for the vocal
harmonies of early rhythm and blues.
