African American Women In Education

Of the three women you selected, is there one person you admire more?
Are these women living today?
Is there a person in your life who is a positive role model for you in terms of education or any other life experiences which impact upon your education?

PART 2

Create a booklet that will include the biographical sketches and pictures of the women you have selected. You might also include a timeline of significant events that occurred during the period in history when these people lived and made their contributions to education. Upon completion of this assignment, all materials will be combined into a class booklet. The class booklet will be displayed in the classroom and used as a resource guide.

Combine individual tasks within each group.
Organize each biography in alphabetical order by last name.
Combine materials from each group, including biographies, timelines and photographs to form one classroom booklet.
Place the cover on the front and bind the booklet.

Who was the first African American woman college president? What college, and in what year?

ASSESSMENT

Students will be assessed on identifying important African American women in education by using technology resources, such as the Internet, word processing programs, and library research and reference materials.
